Tank Registration Form

Instructions

The Alberta Fire Code mandates that all underground tanks, and aboveground tanks 2,500L or greater be registered.  The Fire Code prohibits the use of unregistered tanks to store flammable or combustible products.

Submitting the Registration Form

  1. Submit the tank registration form.
  2. Submit a copy of the Fire Approval issued by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to install the tank.  Acceptable forms of approval include a Fire Permit, letter from a Safety Codes Officer within the AHJ stating the installation was approved, or copies of engineered drawings stamped by a Safety Codes Officer within the AHJ.  .
  3. Submit copies of precision test results for all underground tanks and/or piping.

Registration Fees

Registration fees are currently set at $50.00 / tank or compartment / year and must be renewed on an annual basis.  The tank owner, as indicated on your registration form will be invoiced applicable fees.

Registration Certificate

A registration certificate will be sent to the registered owner of the tank upon submission of all required documentation and registration fees.  Your registration certificate should be displayed at the tanks location.
